Town Attorney Opens for Rock Legend

Saturday 3/28/09

Cicero town attorney John LaMantia performed at the LaGrange Theatre as the opening act for rock legend Pat DiNizio of the Smithereens.

LaMantia a local favorite, and leader of his own rockabilly band, Johnny 3:16, received an enthusiasic reception as he gave a solo performance of acoustic guitar and vocals. In a set that lasted about 40 minutes John performed a number of his own compositions as well as old favorites from Buddy Holly, the Beatles and the evening’s head liner.

Pat DiNizio then took the stage at LaGrange’s tiny theatre two and held a crowd of around a hundred mostly boomer aged fans spellbound as he performed musically and talked about his life and the experiences that inspired him to write the many international chart toppers he’s known for.

Dressed down in bicycle cap, black t-shirt, black jeans and white stocking feet, he set the intimate gathering at ease to settle in for a fascinating journey from boyhood adventures in Scotch Plains , NJ to rock star adventures with some of the biggest names in music, television and film.

Between each story was a flawless solo performance on guitar and vocals of hits including – "Only a Memory", "Blood and Roses", "Behind a Wall of Sleep", "House We Used to Live In",  and the closer "A Girl Like You."

The LaGrange Theatre is located at 80 S. LaGrange Rd; LaGrange, IL; Primarily a movie house, most months it features some live performances.  Owner John Rot  who also owns neighboring Horton’s Home Lighting was in attendance at the show.
